Helen Adendorff

Executive Director

Helen hails from Pretoria and has two adult daughters who are her greatest blessing. She has an Arts degree from Rhodes University and a diploma in Journalism. Helen worked in the corporate communications environment for 22 years before moving into the NGO environment in 2007. She says, “I believe NGOs in South Africa provide many answers for upliftment and my passion is to contribute to structures, processes and good governance that enable visions to fly!”

Having moved to the Western Cape quite recently, Helen has an appreciation for the communities and environment of Hout Bay. “There is something very special here, in the way that Hout Bay residents work together and collaborate to find answers to local challenges. Bronwen’s visionary work in Hout Bay has had a powerful impact over many years.

“At Thrive, our vision is to work towards a model, through which some of these solutions might then be shared. My hope is that, as part of this great team, I will be able to meaningfully contribute to the development of that model.”

Helen finds inspiration from mountains, ocean and sky for her interest in art and photography. She feels privileged to be able to contribute to the preservation of Hout Bay’s precious natural environment.
